Nortriptyline drug molecule. Computer model showing the structure of a molecule of the antidepressant drug nortriptyline. Nortriptyline is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor (DRI). It works by blocking the action of dopamine transporter molecules, leading to increased extracellular concentrations of dopamine, a neurotransmitter known to play an important role in mood. Atoms are represented by colour-coded spheres: carbon (white, large), hydrogen (white, small) and nitrogen (blue).
