Waifs Of War. Up the gangway clamber two Polish children to board a Coast Guard-manned transport which will carry them from Bombay, India, far from the dangers of war. These fugitives cling to their few possessions, wrapped in bundles and carried in a tin pail. Coast Guard officers give them a helpful hand as their smiles reveal the thrill they feel at embarking on a great ship for along ocean voyage to a new land of safety.
