To Operate,—^^Have the combining tube in po-sition to allow sufficient quantity of water to eon-dense the steam when the starting valve is full 286 LOCOMOTIVE APPLIANCES. open, then open the starting valve slightly; whenwater shows at the overflow, open full. Regulatethe water by moving the combining tube—towardA for less water, and toward B for more water. To Use as a Heater.—Close the overflow by mov-ing the combining tube toward B until the tubes. Pig. The check shown in the accompanying engrav-ing can be applied to the branch pipe or injec-tor delivery pipe of any locomotive injector.
