PACIFIC OCEAN (May 9, 2017) A Mark 38 25 mm machine gun fires during a training event aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). The ship and it's amphibious ready group are returning home after a 7-month deployment to the 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
