Platonic solids are regular, convex polyhedrons. They are constructed by congruent regular polygonal faces with the same number of faces meeting at each vertex. Five solids meet those criteria, and each is named after its number of faces: tetrahedron (five faces), hexahedron or cube (six faces) octahedron (eight faces) icosahedron (20 faces) and dodecahedron (12 faces).
