Rose shows, peony shows and iris shows seem to have used much of the spare time of the flower growers of central and eastern Pennsylvania. Large cities and little towns, and most of the towns in between, have staged exhibits the last few weeks. Many of these shows were worthy of cities like New Yf)rk ;in<l Chicago, and even the smallest diil credit to the promoters. Of the larger rose displays, that of the society of Harrisburg stands well up among the foremost of the early .lune exhibitions. The displiiy was' staged at the public library, with something like seventy-five exhibitors conijieting for first and second prizes, and awards of merit, given during the tliree days. June 8 to 10.
