Tannery. Workers dying an animal skin at a tannery in Morocco. This tannery uses natural curing materials (such as cow urine and bird guano) to make animal skins into tough yet soft leather. Dyes (saffron seen here) are used to add colours, and the dyed skins are then left to dry in the sun. This is the Chouwara tannery, in Fez, Morocco. It handles goat, sheep and cow skins, using methods that date back hundreds of years.
