In capturing this tiny island, 25 miles northwest of Okinawa, the second Marine division, coming ashore in Coast Guard landing craft, sustained negligible casualties. Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz announced the seizure of Ihiya Shima, 17th island of the Okinawa group to be taken, this week.
