Carini, who is a Sicilian by birth, distinguished himself greatly in the last Sicilian revolution. He is one of the bravest of the brave; and, after an exile of twelve years, he has returned to his country to shed his blood in its behalf. He was wounded by some Bavarian troops in the Fierraa Vecchia, an hour after the armistice had been signed'. From "Illustrated London News", 1860.
