Close-up of the red and inflamed testicle (testis) in a 7 year old male patient in which there has been torsion (twisting) of the spermatic cord. The blood supply of each testes passes through the spermatic cord and twisting can compression of blood vessels leading to swelling and tissue death. In this case the affected testicle had to be removed (orchidectomy).
