Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean walking on the Moon during the Apollo 12 moon landing. The gravity on the Moon is around a sixth of that on Earth, making even small efforts result in large movements. Apollo 12, the second manned lunar landing mission, launched on November 14 1969. At right is part of the Head crater, with the lunar module also seen just above it.
