21/05/23 After crossing the river Dove from Staffordshire into Derbyshire at Milldale, 350 competitors tackle their first climb of the day as they take part in the Leaden Boot. The route for Marathon-distance run/walk includes a staggering 4800 feet of ascent, and descent, starting and finishing in the Peak District village of Alstonefield. The annual Leaden Boot race began in 2010 to raise funds to replace lead stolen from the church roof. The shortest time to complete the LBC is 4 hours 12 minutes set by Kurt Fitch in 2019.
