Jaundice. 81-year-old woman suffering from drug-induced jaundice. Yellowing of the white (sclera) of the eyes and the surrounding skin can be seen. Jaundice is not a disease in itself, but is a symptom of many disorders of the liver and biliary system. Jaundice caused by drugs, which are treating other conditions, requires constant medical attention. The yellowing symptoms of jaundice are caused by an excess of bilirubin, a bile pigment, in the blood.
