Mars mission landing sites. Labelled cylindrical map of the landing sites of various NASA Mars missions, including the landing site for the upcoming 2018 InSight mission (far right). The other mission landing sites shown are Phoenix (2008), Viking 1 (July 1976), Pathfinder (1997), Opportunity (2004), Curiosity (2012), Spirit (2004) and Viking 2 (September 1976). InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) was launched on 5 May 2018. It is scheduled to reach Mars in November 2018.
