Captain De Forest died at Cleveland, Ohio, August -2,1870 from disease contracted while in the service. His re-nains lie in Lake View Cemetery, the burial being the firstme in those grounds. He was a brave and patriotic soldier, which seemed to de-scend upon him from his military ancestors, and made ofliini one of the best disciplined officers in the service of theUnited States.
