Japan: Courts and Culture is the first exhibition to bring together the Royal Collection's spectacular holdings of Japanese works of art, opening at The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace on Friday, 8 April. The exhibition explores more than 350 years of diplomatic, artistic and cultural exchanges between Britain and Japan, from first encounters under James I to the modern partnership during Her Majesty The Queen's reign. More than 150 examples of exceptional Japanese craftsmanship will be on display, many for the first time, including samurai armour, weaponry, porcelain, lacquer, woodcut prints, fans and embroidered screens.
