The surface is covered with a whitish powdery bloom which rubs off readily. Our drawing (Plate 15), obviates the necessity of further description. The species is apparently multiple brooded in this district. Ex- amples were taken here long before the Matilijah Poppy was brought in as a garden plant. Its only close relative growing wild in the Del Mar area is the Bush Poppy, Dendromecon rigida Benth.
