Bottle tree of Filadelfia, Paraguay
The Ceiba speciosa, formerly Chorisia speciosa, has a flask-shaped trunk and hence is called the Bottle Tree. Paraguayans and Bolivians call it "palo borracho", or drunken tree, since the trunk stores water in dry weather. It is an evergreen and very drought tolerant tree of the deserted Chaco regions of Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina.
