This panorama is under the auspices of the Swiss Gov-ernment. German Village.—Immediately west of the Dutch Settlement,upon the north side of the Plaisance, is located the German Vil-lage. The grantees of this concession have erected structuresnecessary for a German village of the present time, and in con-nection therewith a German town of mediaeval times. They haverepresentations of the houses of the upper Bavarian mountains,the houses of the Black Forest, the Hessian and Altenburg houseof Silesian Bauren, representing the middle Germans, the West-. All of theabove-mentioned houses are combined in a village. In the varioushouses are installed original household furniture, so characteristicas to be readily distinguished as belonging to particular tribesthe characteristics of which it is intended to show. There is alsoin connection with this attraction a German ethnological museumunder the management of Dr. Ulric Jahii, of Berlin. Turkish Village.—The next attraction on the left is a TurkishVillage. This consists of a reproduction of one of the old streetsof Stamboul and also of one of the prominent squares in the samestreet. In connection with this are displayed the manufacturesof Turkey in Europe, Turkey in Asia, including Syria. Thereare also shown the typical dances
