White floating candle in a glass bowl. The wick of the candle had not yet been lighted, would be as part of festival of Diwali.

Floating candles in a glass bowl, lighted up as part of the celebration for Diwali, the festival of lights, celebrated as part of the Hindu religion. This is one of the most important festivals as part of the Hindu religion. As part of the festival, it has become custom to light lamps (over the ages, this has been oil lamps and now lamps / electrical lighting fixtures) around and outside the home or office establishment. As part of the mythology surrounding the festival, it celebrates the return of Lord Rama from his 14 year exile, after defeating the demon king Ravan. Diwali also marks the end of the harvest season and also invoking the blessings of the Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) and inviting her into the home, symbolizing the prayers for inviting more wealth into the house. This photo shows a floating candle kept in a glass bowl. The flame of the candle has been extinguished for now.
