From this summit it looks into threevalleys, those of the Orcia, the Ombrone, and the Asso,and so commands one of the most beautiful and wide-spreading of all Tuscan prospects. Innumerable hills,vales, and streams are mapped below it and white ribbon-like roads wind among them, while above all lies MonteAmiata, which with its long, gracious slopes mantled withchestnuts broods above southern Tuscany.
