Eton, Berkshire, UK. 10th November, 2022. Wild mushrooms growing in fields in Eton, Windsor. They are probably wild Macrolepiota Procera Parasol mushrooms with their trademark snakeskin patterns and partial veil ring around the stem. They are a basidiomycete fungus with a large, prominent fruiting body resembling a parasol. There are similar looking Shaggy Parasols which are not edible so great caution must always be taken before picking and eating wild mushrooms. There are over 15,000 types of fungi in the UK.
