Looking N at the W end of Brixworth church showing remains of the C7th Saxon basilica church built of stone rubble, mortar & reclaimed Roman tiles. Some rebuilding in C10th-11th after damaged by Danes in C8th-9th. The S doorway & windows have been inserted into blocked arches of the vanished S aisle & a C10th tower & stair turret built on to the 2-storey narthex (entrance porch) at the W end.
