The new power station building is a steel-frame structurewith concrete foundations and brick curtain walls. It is 106 in. wide by 143 ft. long. The floor space is subdivided bya fire-resisting wall into a boiler house and an engine room. Abay in the engine room 49 ft. long x 25 ft. wide incloses thehigh-tension buses and switching apparatus. The boiler andengine room roofs are carried on structural steel girders span-ning from wall to wall. These girders carry 8-in. I-beam pur-. Coal is received over an elevated track supported on a steeldoor structure and a wing wall so arranged that a storage spacedirectly beneath the receiving track is opposite the boiler firingaisle. The boiler equipment includes one 306-hp, two 250-hp andfour 150-hp Heine boilers equipped with American underfeedstokers and force draft. The boiler-plant auxiliaries are lo-cated on the boiler house floor. This boiler house has no base-ment. Ashes will be removed by a belt conveyor which willcarry them to overhead bins from which they may be loaded intoi ars.
