The Wilson Ave. water crib off of Chicago's Montrose Harbor sits on the horizon at sunrise over Lake Michigan. Chicago has had nine water intake cribs built two miles or more out into the lake, six are still standing and two are still in use. Demolition is planned on several of the inactive cribs that were used to gather fresh water for the cities residents. The Wilson Ave. crib was completed in 1918 and is currently an inactive standby crib the city plans to demolish.
