Suprasellar aneurysm, CT scan

Coloured computed tomography (CT) in axial section of a brain of a 67-year-old male patient that is an alcoholic and smokes, after a fall. This scan shows the presence of a voluminous, homogeneous suprasellar aneurysm that is calcified at the of its wall. Aneurysms are localised, blood-filled balloon-like bulges in the wall of a blood vessel. They form when the wall is weakened by disease or another cause. If they burst there is the danger of death or other complications due to severe hemorrhaging (bleeding).
