Gibraltar, Europe, March, 2016. The Northern Defences of Gibraltar are a formidable section of 18th century military defences, medieval fortifications and WWII installations. The area is known locally as 'The Jungle' and consists of sections including the Genoese Battery, Governor’s Lookout, O’Hara’s Battery and Jew’s Gate. Many areas inside the tunnel complex date back to the 18th Century and were used for hundreds of years, including during WWII. The tunnels were clreaed of vegatation and rubble in 2015.
