Two islets of Langerhans surrounded by exocrine acini. Semi-thin section ( micrometres thick) stained with toluidine blue and embedded in a synthetic resin. The islet cells are lighter and are arranged following a cordonal pattern, rather than forming acini. The clear spaces between the cords are blood capillaries. In the acini, the serous grains located near the central lumen stand out. Magnification: x180 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
