An Italian silver-inlaid small-sword, 1st half of the 17th century. A somewhat later, long thrusting blade with short triple fullers and the inscription "ESPADERO DEL REY ESPANIA" on each side. Chiselled knuckle-bow hilt with silver inlays in a geometrical pattern (one quillon broken and riveted) with downward curving bows for screw mounting a cup guard . Later iron and copper wire grip winding with Turk's heads. Length cm. Comes with a fitting but not corresponding old iron cup guard.
