The amphibious raid is the final joint, and combined, training evolution of UNITAS LXIII where marines and navy personnel from 19 different countries combine their collective resources to conduct a ship-to-shore operation to seize a known objective. The UH-1Ys serve as close air support platforms during the raid to support the troops on the ground with reconnaissance and suppressing fires from above. The culminating event celebrates the combined efforts of planning and preparation among the partnered nations and illustrates the ethos of UNITAS. UNITAS, which is Latin for ‘unity,’ trains forces from across the globe in South America to conduct joint maritime operations through the execution of anti-surface, anti-submarine, anti-air, amphibious, and electronic warfare operations that enhance warfighting proficiency and increase interoperability among participating navy and marine forces.
