Japan: Ichijo Mikako (11 September 1835 - 9 Jule 1894), wife of the 15th and final Shogun, Tokugawa Yoshinobu. Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900), 19th century. Tokugawa Mikako, formerly known as Ichijo Mikako and born Nobukimi, was a noble woman of the Edo court and wife of Shogun Tokguwa Yoshinobu. Her natural father was Imadegawa Kinhisa while her adopted father was Ichijo Tadaka. She gave birth to a daughter in 1858 who died days later, and did not live together with her husband for ten years. She died of breast cancer in 1894.
