Rådmannsgården situated on Rådhusgata, is the oldest surviving building in the old Christiania (now Oslo), Norweay


Councilman farm (Rådhusgata 19) is the oldest surviving building in the old Christiania ( Kvadraturen in Oslo ). The house is located on Hall Street , Lower Castle Street and Christiania turf . Ankerjernene the side building towards Lower Slottsgate dating it to 1626, and the entire facility was probably completed this year councilman Lauritz Hansen . The property originally stretched further back in the quarter. The main building is on two floors with exterior walls constructed of imported Dutch tiles. Color shifts in brick manor, with predominantly red cup pages and yellow pages runs, giving the brickwork alternating red and yellow shift times. The original cloister the backyard was later in the 1600s replaced by the current stairwell onto the square, listed in utmurt timbered. The house has a steep roof with middle sheets and high gables with blind arcades . They had originally sketched contours and sandstone ornaments in Danish-Dutch Renaissance style. The house has an asymmetrically placed oriel against Rådhusgata. Wing towards Lower Castle Street was originally detached in half floors, but was extended to two in 1782. Also this wing had formerly a bay window, which was added by construction along with forhuset but demolished in the 1800s. Upon restoration in the 1950s was old window frames from the 1600s replaced with latticed windows of 1700s type. University Library in Oslo and the Oslo Public Library has been located here. From 1850 years the building was used by Garrison Hospital, and in 1937 as premises for Oslo Art Society .
