Brooklyn Bridge is a cable-stayed/suspension bridge, one of the oldest bridges of either type in the was completed in 1883 and spans the East river connecting Lower Manhattan to Brooklyn. It was designated a US National Historical landmark in 1964 and is an icon for New York City. It carries a wide pedestrian/cyclist walkway and six lanes for traffic .Manhattan and Williamsburg bridges in the background
