San Martin and Simon Bolivar statues in Guayaquil, Ecuador


This is a famous monument in the city that commerorates the meeting between San Martin and Simon Bolivar in 1822, when all of Ecuador fought for its independence from Spain. This historical monument is a spectacular semicircle commemorating the meeting of two Latin American liberators, Simon Bolivar and San Martin, when it was decided that Guayaquil be annexed to the Gran Colombia. The monument is called : La Rotonda.
