Sunset Maddens Creek, Dharawal State Conservation Area, Darkes Forest, NSW Australia
This stretch of Maddens Creek is down stream of the weir, which at this time was full, but the water is partially used by the orchards of Darkes Forest. So in times of low rain or drought this side of Maddens struggles to flow. In normal precipitation there would be at least a covering of flowing water, what you see in this image is mainly from seepage as most of this area is an upland swamp with its very own endemic and rare species of plants. I had in mind a bare bones creek bed image and am glad that there was still some pools of water trickling along. The pools seperate the bedrock acting as a path for the eye to follow up the creek (definately without a paddle) to the illuminated tree line. A simple and effective composition composed in a mad rush to capture the fading light which was all to important to the image. Alpa 12SWA, Schneider 24mmXL, Leaf 75s, .6ND Grad, f11@1/2sec
