JOHN EMERSON was the first ordained minister of the 86 JVew Castle and the L separated parish. He was born iu1670 ; graduated at Harvard collegeiu 1689 ; settled in Manchester,Mass. ; was ordained and settled iuNew Castle, in 1703 ; dismissed in1712; settled iu Portsmouth; died,January 21, 1732. REV. WILLIAM SHURTLEFF, second pastor, born iu 1689 ; gradu-ated at Harvard college iu 1707; set-tled iu New Castle iu 1712 ; died May9, 1747. REV. JOHN BLUNT, the third pastor, born iu 1706 ; grad-uated at Harvard college in 1727;was ordained at New Castle iu 1732 ;died August 17, 1747. His wife wasthe daughter of Hon. John Frost. REV. DAVID ROBINSON, the fourth pastor, boru in 1716; graduated at Harvard college iu1738 ; was ordained at New Castle iu1748; and died Nov. 18, 1749. REV. STEPHEN CHASE, was born iu 170o ; graduated at Har-vard college in 1728 ; was installed iuNew Castle iu 1756 ; and died iu Jan-uary, 1778. During the Revolution the churchwas destitute of a pastor.
