DISEASED BADISH LEAVES. I am sending you a sample of radish leaves, which show the marks of some disease. In growing radishes here, in northeastern Illinois, I am greatly trou- bled with this disease. Please tell me what I can use as a remedy. W. K. The disease of the radish leaves is due to a fungus commonly called downy niildew, Peronospora parasitica. Prac- tically all cultivated crucif erse are more or less subject to it, and at times it becomes quite destructive to radishes 3-nd other crucifers in the greenhouse, 'jenerally this fungus is associated with another known as white rust, Cystopus candidus. The fungus appears as white, downy patches on the under side of the leaf; these patches increase in size until in * few days the entire surface of the ?eaf is covered.
