Tricorn protease, illustration

Tricorn protease, illustration. This protein is involved in the degradation of unneeded or damaged proteins in the cell cytosol. The proteins are first degraded into smaller molecules, known as oligopeptides, by a proteasome. The oligopeptides are then further degraded into their amino acid building blocks, which can then be used to make new proteins.
