A Toddy tapper climbs a Toddy palm carrying his basic tool kit and a labu katey, a round container which is used to collect the toddy sap, attached around his waist at PhilipKutter's farm in Kottayam in the backwaters of Kottayam, Kerala State, India. The Toddy palm a native to South and Southeast Asia and is part of the Sugar palm group. Toddy sap is used to produce palm wine, an alcoholic beverage and also distilled and used in local curry dishes.
