The annual Covent Garden May Fayre & Puppet Festival features Punch and Judy professors from around England, celebrating Mr Punch's birthday The event, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2015, is held in St. Paul's Churchyard, Covent Garden, which has long connections with Punch & Judy. The May Fayre culminates in a toast to Mr Punch to celebrate his birthday on May 9th – the first recorded mention of Mr Punch in England was in the diary of Samuel Pepys on 9 May 1662.
