Lady Chapel, Abbey of St Michael and All Angels, Belmont, Hereford, England.


The Lady Chapel with a statue of the Virgin Mary at the entrance which dates from before 1870. It is made of Bavarian papier mache skimmed with plaster. The church at Belmont was built to the designs of Edward Welby Pugin, son of the great Augustus Welby Pugin. The Abbey Church was built mainly between 1854 and 1857. The Benedictine monks at the Abbey adhere to the Rule of St Benedict which is the foremost monastic code in the West. This Church has just gained a considerable amount of money from the UK Heritage Lottery fund in 2006 towards restoration of the roof and other areas Benedictine Abbey. Monks follow the Rule of St Benedict.
