A pod of humpback whales bubble netting herring off the coast of Admiralty Island, Alaska

A clear view of a pod of humpback whales breaching during bubble netting off the coast of Alaska. The whales form a ring blowing bubbles as they spiral in a circle below the surface. Herring will not cross the bubble streams and get trapped within a circle. The whales rise as a group in a circle except for the one seen clearly in the centre, with their mouths open. They hoover up masses of fish and water as they breach the surface and then descend, mouths full, to do it all again.
