Gardens by the Bay, Singapore - 3 - 5 March 2019; group of tourists, sightseeing in shot. Singapore aspires to be the world's greenest city; it seems to be succeeding. Of course, climate helps - the constantly hot and wet tropical weather, although unpleasant to humans, is ideal for plants. As a result, greenery grows just about anywhere and everywhere. The astonishing 101-hectare Gardens by the Bay - seen here- is one of many enlightened environmentally-friendly developments in the city. It's packed with beautiful tropical flora and iconic supertrees: these are artificial tree-like structures that provide a framework for vertical gardens and walkways. Here we see the supertree grove at its most stunning, at sunrise; you have to be up early to catch it - but it's worth it! Editor Note: The gardens and supertree groves are free, open to public at all times, and unticketed - see description field for more info.
