'Miss, I have a Monstrous Crow to pluck with you!!', 1794. Artist: James Gillray.

'Miss, I have a Monstrous Crow to pluck with you!!', 1794. An older woman (or possibly a man dressed as a woman), points at a younger woman, apparently pregnant, while a crow under table says 'Oh! Too bad'. Addressing someone as 'Miss' would indicate that she is pregnant outside marriage, a serious scandal at the time. The expression 'monstrous crow' comes from the 'Mother Goose' tales, and referrred to an argument or quarrel.
