The principal mercantile organi-zations of the city are the Board ofTrade and the Merchants Associa-tion. The Fitchburg Board ofTrade, the oldest organization ofthe kind, is an association of busi-ness men that has made itself felt inpublic as well as commercial was organized in May, 1874. ^n1876 the board moved into its roomsin the Post-Office and Board of Trade building.
