A late afternoon summer beach view, looking west, some distance out from Fairhaven, Lytham St Annes. The tidal range on the beach varies. A 7 metre high tide, rising from the River Ribble (left of shot) covers only a small section of beach, allowing large areas to dry out and blow in the wind. A 10 metre high tide, in contrast, will flood the beach and reach the coastline (right of shot), leaving the beach wet at low tide.
