The principal hotels of Houston arethe Capitol, the Grand Central and theBoyles, the latter the old Hutchins Houseremodeled. The Grand Central Hotel, situateddirectly oppositethe Grand Cen-tral Depot, inHouston, is anew house, withall the modernappointments ofelectric call bellsand lights, baths,etc. It was builtlast year, at a cost of $20,000, and is man-. aged by James Lawlor, who runs theGrand Central Depot Dining Hallhere, and the lunch room at RosenbergJunction, on the Santa Fe and SouthernPacific roads. He is a hotel man of many years expe-rience. He was formerly connected withthe Driskell, at Austin, Tex., the Lindelland Southern, of St. Louis, and theTremont, in Chicago, and he was proprie-tor of the Grand Central Depot DiningHall here, for three years before this hotelwas built. The Grand Central is 75 by 100 feet,and three stories high. It has twenty-eight rooms and accommodations for forty
