Boris Johnson's government was found to have acted unlawfully when it transferred patients from hospitals to care homes during the early part of the pandemic. Johnson and Matt Hancock the then health secretary at the time had said that a protective ring had been thrown around care homes, but this was incorrect. Johnson said that he and his government were unfamiliar with the transmission of the virus, but this was untrue, which he repeated in the House of Commons on Wednesday.
