Baden: A broadsword for dragoon officers, based on a French pre-1811 pattern. A double edged blade, with a decoration of trophies and scrollwork at the forte showing traces of gilding. An inscription on each side reading "PRO DEO GLORIA ET PATRIA", accompanied by a crowned cypher "CF" (Grand Duke Karl Friedrich, 1738 - 1811) and a coat of arms of Baden respectively. The gilt brass hilt has an openwork knuckle shield, four tierce guards and a leather-covered grip with brass wire binding.
