Traffic and Schedules. The freight and passenger rates for the various servicesoffered by the road are the same as those charged by thecompeting Southern Pacific Railroad. Passenger fares arebased on a rate of three cents per mile. Eight passengertrains are run each way daily, which, with one freight traineach way daily and four construction trains, comprise theregular service on the through line. In Chico, where thereare eight miles of local track, a 15-minute headway is main-. The passenger trains between Chico and Oroville makethe run of 25 miles in 50 minutes and between Chico andMarysville. miles, in 1 hour and 45 minutes. The compet-ing steam line, which has a route four miles shorter than theNorthern Electric, makes the run with no stops in 1 hour and50 minutes. As soon as the new track of the Northern Elec-tric is more thoroughly settled, the running time betweenChico and Marysville will be cut to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or35 minutes less than that of the limited steam trains.
